review 1: Another interesting find. I love discovering good BDSM writers, and Annabel Joseph was a curious experience. It's just on the edge of being uncomfortable reading for me, but still very attractive and crazily sexy. Since this book I read quite a few of her novels, and the quality varies. First two books in this series are superb though. In Comfort Object the hero is a famous actor, who wants an uncomplicated relationship away from the limelight which is why he creates a contract, so both parties would know what they can and can not expect from each other. Of course it doesn't work quite like he expects, but in the end it's a nice romance, where both characters are really intriguing people in their own right. Recommended.
review 2: I read this as part of the Mak
... moree Me anthology. I've read some of Annabel Joseph's work before, and had this book, Comfort Object, on my "to read" list. I super duper liked this book. Maybe loved it. I don't know. The premise of the story may or may not sound interesting to erotica readers. It didn't grab me, but the relationship between them was the focal point and held my interest. We are left to wonder about Nell' s past. It clearly wasn't great for her, but she still manages to be a smart, sweet, modest and selfless person. I adored her character. Jeremy is a selfish prick. He first deserve her, but through her affection for him, I think she makes him, eventually, a better person. Maybe readers who don't "get" BDSM found it reprehensible that he would punish her and that she took it, over and over. But she enjoyed pleasing him. I like to please my husband. It just so happens that he isn't a sadist. I especially loved the dialogue. Some books have the corniest dialogue. Joseph brings a realism that made the characters believable and made me want to laugh or cry at times. I will look for the other books in this series. less
