review 1: This is a story about Ellie Jensen who Is a plain Jane and Lucas Thayer a rich spoiled young man. Lucas falls for Ellie in Harvard, however, she doesn't believe him until she reconnects with him 16 years later when Thayer Industries takes over the company where Ellie works. He has a reputation of being a monster, and Ellie has a hard time trying to get past that reputation until he gives it all up to be with her. This is an interesting read.
review 2: I'm not sure where I even start on this it started off good and then it just went bad after that. So I will start with what I like about the book. The beginning started off very strong Ellie is a freshman and Harvard and she meets Luke in a class. In most books this is where Ellie would have swooned and feel in lo
... moreve with Luke. But that is not what happened she can't stand him and things he is a pain in the ass. But for Luke he like what he sees in Ellie and is willing to give a it a try but she rejects him not believing him and feels that they are not a match. The next part of the book zooms to 15/16 yrs later and Ellie is working for a company that is bought out by the one and only Luke Thayer. It has been yrs since they had seen each other. Ellie finds out that Luke is in a wheelchair. And from there is when the book just died I had hopes for this one I really did. There were things that I just didn't understand or didn't like. I wasn't really feeling the romance between them it was just blah nothing special. I never really felt that when she saw Luke she saw the man that she loved more than anything. Just always saw the wheelchair and always reminded us that he was in one. She was supposed to be the one that only saw the beautiful and sexy man but it never felt that way at least not to me.And the sex scenes were um not sexy more like weird and odd. I had not problem with Luke being in a wheelchair I actually like that part of the story. But when it came time for them to do the do it was just written wrong. We find out that Luke has trouble in that department and has to take the blue pill and when he does the act nothing really "comes" from it. Now as a reader who wants to read that I mean seriously. They were just written with out any type of passion whats so ever. And when Ellie got excitement from the act it was just not believable and I would never want to read those scenes ever again. This was also a book filled with ppl that were mean and cruel towards ppl with disabilities. Just about everybody in Luke's personal circle are people that are not even worth knowing. And they just were not mean to him but also to Ellie. I did however like how they did stand up to those ppl for each other. But it also speaks volumes of what type of person Luke was before his accident and how he made changes. And its not even Luke's circle that are mean its people that wrk for him. I have never in my life talked about someone like these ppl in the book did. But I guess that there are ppl out like that in the world that are just that cruel. I did however like Sadie the neighbor she had more character development than Ellie and that is saying much because she wasn't even in the book that often. We knew that Ellie has parent but we never meet them. As a matter of fact you don't really get to see much from her life what so ever. Sadie was that little old women that always seems to stay next door to someone young and single and tries to give you advice on you love life. And its usually advice that you do not want but its advice that is on the mark. During the last few chapters Ellie finds out that she is pregnant and she just didn't believe that she was and wasn't going to tell Luke. If Luke had never called her to be my his side she was never going to tell him and just abort the baby and I felt like that was just beyond wrong. So anyway she tells him that she is with his child and he doesn't believe it at first because he was told that he couldn't make babies because of the accident. Now here is the problem when Ellie and Luke start having sex he tells her that he doesn't ejaculate and clearly he never doesn't the whole time. But all of a sudden we are to believe that he got her pregnant. I mean come on really yeah I don't think so and what it worse that is the last chapter in the book. At least give it some type of epilogue or something. For the ppl that like the book should have been able to get to see how their lives turned out. Did he really sell the company? Did his mother Sophie forgive him for selling it? Did they have a boy or girl? What happened with the ppl he had to fire because the business wasn't doing well? As reader do we every get to meet her parents? Now if the author comes out with a novella or one last chapter I will read it because I would at least like to see what was the final for Luke and Ellie. less
