review 1: The first in a series of WW2 era stories set in London. We meet Olive who was widowed during WWI. She lives in her home with he daughter Tilley. She decides to rent her spare bedrooms. We meet Sally who is a nurse formerly of Liverpool. We meet Agnes who was raised in orphanage and is too old to be evacuated. We also meet Dulcie who works at Selfridges. How these girls face the war and become friends is the plotline introducing the set
review 2: I loved this book. Usually Annie's books are set in Liverpool but (as the title suggests) this one is set in London and it is a great book with fantastic, believable characters. If you've ever read one of Annie's books then you'll know what to expect. Unfortunately the author recently passed away so the series will neve... morer be complete but book 3 is out in February and there was going to be a book for at the end of this year (which I assume was never completed). But this book, and the two that follow, are great reads. less
