review 1: Translated from Swedish, this is the story of two Jewish girls who are evacuated from Austria to Sweden just prior to WWII. They are expecting to be there among strangers for only a short while, just until their parents get immigration visas to the U.S. The girls must learn a new language and customs along with being not so subtly converted to Christianity. It is the first in a series of four, I don't know if the others are yet available, but I would like to read on, even knowing these girls are in for some heartbreak.
