review 1: If you think that the results of the second world war are sedentary, read this well-documented book. My one complaint is as an American, I am not fluent in the French or German languages. Mister Beevor makes liberal use of quotations in these languages without providing an inkling of a clue as to the meaning. I was reading a printed book which does not come with internet connectivity. I guess a Kindle is becoming mandatory equipment.
