review 1: This was an interesting perspective of war. This is a graphic novel. The story is about Ari who 20 years after serving in the Israeli army was bothered because her couldn't remember the events of the horrible massacre in Beirut. He traces his journey through people he encountered during that time. The story really came together for me when the graphic pictures turned into real picture of the massacre Beirut. This is a mature read as it has nudity in it.
review 2: The art style is cool, kind of reminds me of rotoscope (think of the film waking life) but in graphic novel format. I haven't seen e film yet and I think it would've been beneficial to see the film first OR have a better understanding of the political climate in Lebanon. It was a little hard for me to
... more identify who's who and to separate which 'side' everyone was on. I think that the film would've carried the viewer along when things were hazy like a comrade in war carries his wounded buddy to safety. Note that I read this in French so it's possible I just missed something, but again I think the confusion is part of the narrative as the main character has amnesia and is piecing things together as he goes. Not sure if I'm giving 3 stars or 4 - however, it inspired me to see the film one day and to find out a more about the conflict... less

It was early PSTD. Read it because I had to read a graphic novel for my online book club.
