review 1: Cute story that had a lot of elements I love in it. It had a great and charming dog, Fergus. A sexy Kilt wearing Scot Lyall and a cute shy baker Martin.( ha, and my shelf with the appropriate name cupcake in it has never been more fitting) They have looked and lusted from afar at the Highland games the last few years, but never really made a move toward one another. Fergus decides that needs to stop and takes things into his own paws.He also makes sure Martin needs Lyall's up close and personal help for a day or two and then lets the guys figure the rest out on their own. It's sweet and light and a quick cupcake snacky kind of read, not sure about all the carrying Martin around and having him on his lap, but I guess if Lyall can place in the log throwing competition he ca... moren carry Martin around.
review 2: This is a wonderful love story, filled with gentleness, two amazing men who just know they're right for each other pretty much from the get-go, and a great dog. It is told with a quirky sense of humor that made me laugh several times. The setting of Highland Games worked well for me, providing the unusual background for this unusual romance.Martin is a baker and he takes life, his job, and himself rather seriously. He is shy and believes nobody could possibly be interested in him. Happily, he is very wrong about that, and though it takes him some time to unthaw, so to speak, his interest in Lyall is sufficient to make him open up a little. The fact he loves the man's dog at first sight may also have something to do with it. Lyall is a man with a wicked sense of humor, and does not take himself seriously at all. At least when he's at the games, I suspect it's a little different in real life where he is a lawyer. At the fair, though, he lets go and I loved his antics. He and his dog are a match for each other in the coming-up-with-fun-ideas department. I also liked that he was clearly not going to let Martin get away from him, now that they have met.If you like sweet stories with cute dogs and cuter men, if you enjoy reading about men who fall for each other right away and just know they're going to make a relationship work, and if you're looking for a read with lots of tenderness and some gentle, yet passionate, lovemaking, then you will probably enjoy this novella.NOTE: This book was provided by Dreamspinner Press for the purpose of a review. less
