review 1: This book made for what could quite possibly be the most fun I've had in storytime. More fun than the story itself (which there wasn't really much of, as it reads more like a "how-to" manual) were the opportunities it created. I had the kids trying out their ability to just "sing really loud" by belting out a rock rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," testing their ability to teach dance moves by doing the hokey pokey, playing some pretty wicked air guitar, and shouting to their adoring fans "SAN DIEGO, ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?!?!"They absolutely loved it, and I clearly had a room FULL of rock stars :-)
review 2: Channel that preschooler energy into something productive—being a rock star! This fun book invites kids to get up and get rocking...even if the
... morey don't have any equipment. It's all about attitude! From perfecting your guitar stance to finding your trademark hairstyle (shout out to Joan Jett!) to meeting your adoring fans, this book will have even the shyest kid wanting to get onstage—I know, because I have one! Presumably, the sequel will tackle such issues as hiring and firing managers, dealing with parents and hangers-on, resisting drugs and booze (after all, they're just little kids), and what to do when Yoko Ono won't leave your best pal alone. In the meantime, grab that hairbrush microphone, jump on the bed stage and make some noise! Five stars. less
