review 1: This is a REALLY SHORT first installment of a D/s series.... If you enjoy reading about D/s sexual play between employer and employee, you might like this book.If you're looking to get any good, meaningful back story on Mia or Stark, you won't get it in this installment. You get a hint of it, but there really wasn't enough here to not question everything you're reading. Hopefully the second installment is better.
review 2: This review is for the whole series.I wanted to like this series, I really did. I have read other works by Ms. Wick that I did like, but I didn't like this one; however I couldn't stop reading it either, this was like looky looing at a accident - you really shouldn't look, you don't want to look, you try not to look, but you can't help your
... moreself. First let me say that I don't mind me some yummy dominating alpha male, But BDSM is not my thing at all. I have, however, read enough to know that there were some seriously disturbing things going on in this series:1)Taking the interrogation from Mia's POV, "Stand in the corner"?, "Drop your skirt"?, "You have a very short timeframe in which to save your job"?, "Drop your skirt and spread your legs"? Envelope full of money? All of this from the CEO - Can anyone say Blackmail, Sexual Harassment, Dubious Consent - Rape? WTF?? Collin is he CEO of a top security firm with access to all kinds info and the only way he could find out is she was the spy was to interrogate her this way, If so I sure would want to hire his firm. From Collin's POV, supposedly he wants her, cares for her - very funny way of showing it by abusing her and treating her like a whore.2)Collin is a Dom and into BDSM, everything that I have read infers that the relationship between Dom and Sub is consensual and never without a safe word. It didn't seem to me that Mia knew what the hell she was getting into, she was just trying to keep her job.and there was no safe word. Very disturbing, Very Very disturbing.3) If BDSM is your cup of tea - the first two books were very erotic and very heavy into the BDSM theme, the 3rd book took a turn somewhere off into left field. Practically non-erotic with no BDSM. So that left me as the reader wondering what just happened?!?4) The whole instigating issue - the corporate spy - was never tied up. Really?? it was the whole reason for this debacle. Overall I didn't think Collins POV about his feelings excused his treatment of the woman he supposedly loved. Like I said very disappointing read. less
