review 1: My first by this author, but it won't be my last. It flowed well and kept my interest from the onset. It is a clean, well-written romantic mystery. You can't help but like and care about the main characters: Camilla, who's lost everything except her exes boy, Oliver, and Capt. Ryan, the officer who befriends them in Pajaro Bay, a coastal town set in CA. They each have their story and crosses to bear. Even the supporting characters residing in Pajaro Bay are likable and well developed. The setting is one that is easy to imagine as there are many towns like it along the coast. A "cozy mystery" well describes the writing style. This is not an edge-of-your-seat-suspense, or an erotic love story. If you want that, then pass this up. If you want a well constructed believable sto... morery-line between two cautious, caring adults, and one lovable boy, this is it. I liked it very much and recommend it.
review 2: I won this book as a first read on Goodreads.I think it is a first time reading one of Barbara Lee's books.I enjoyed the suspense in this book.It took a really long time for Camilla to grow on me.She became more bearable towards the end.Watching these two take turns playing the martyr got in the way of the romance for me.The mystery of Dennis was enough to keep me reading.I think were it not for that I would have given up and put it down.It was well written and a good story overall less
