review 1: I liked the writing, a lot. I liked 2/3rds of the book. A lot. I liked the characters, for the most part, a lot. I read through this book within a day and a half. I'm giving this 3.5 stars because Abate introduced us to some very complex characters who I assumed would be featured throughout the entire book, but just disappeared. There was no closure and tying up of events enough to give me the satisfaction I wanted to feel after reading this type of book. The ending felt a bit forced and again, didn't feel that the book tied it up enough for me.

... moretructive guilt, even misplaced guilt, can confuse and confound. I did find the book wordy at times though I loved the way she strings words together and sets a scene. The last part of the book seemed a little less clear and open....maybe a bit rushed? I look forward to more of the works of this author. less
