A Maine Clambake Mystery
review 1: The author did such a lovely job in describing the setting and Morrow Island that I could picture myself there. Julia Snowden is a wonderful and likable main character. I liked that the murder happened early on in the book. I don't like reading books where it takes a hundred pages or more before the murder happens in a cozy mystery. I had this book finished in less than 24 hours which is a pretty quick turnaround for me. I'm looking forward to reading future books in this series.
review 2: This is the first book in this new series by Barbara Ross and she gets kudos for a well paced, well plotted mystery with great characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The main character, Julia Snowden had to leave her financial career in New York to try and save the family busin
... moreess from going bankrupt. In her agreement with the bank she can only have 5 down days that the business is not operating. A wedding party is to take place on the family island where the clambakes take place. The wedding does not come to completion as the best man is found hanging from the staircase in the island's old mansion. Murder, arson and a plenty of suspects and a bank foreclosure hanging over Julia's head gives her the incentive to investigate on her own as her time is running out. less
