review 1: Bear Grylls is an exciting auto biography retelling his life from the days at Eton to his days climbing Mount Everest. His story is very intriguing and his Everest experience is suspense in itself. Bear Grylls is the star from Man vs. Wild. He makes a living going on dangerous explorations and exciting obstacles he encounter make this a really of-your-seat book. His journey of exciting explorations was started by his father who led him on many small and fun boat rides and mountain climbs. He was always on his families’ island in Britain where he grew up. Bear always loved the thrill he got out of explorations. Bear is a religious man, this was all instilled in him at a young age he recalls. His family growing up and his ancestors were much instilled in the senate and imp... moreortant roles in the community which provided a certain ethic bear has received. A value that is invaluable. His autobiography starts when he begins to tell us of hissocially awkward time at Eton where he developed and begin to grow. A kind of mischievous kid he was.Bear loved to irritate house holders and even had a “run” in with one of the house holders daughters which nearly got him kicked out. Bear had one love he met during his time during his time at Eton. He has had 3 life achievements that will be showed in these paragraphs. One, his development at Eton, two his SAS selection trials, three, climbing Everest.Bear began his SAS selection process after wanting to search for something new, something adventurous. he heard about the SAS, the best army in Britain. he began SAS with a couple of his friends who eventually became his lifelong friends. he began selection with brutal runs through the woods and mountain climbs with fully filled health kits. Bear enjoyed this very much. He lloved the thought of having to push himself and exploring his limits. After weeks of SAS selection, bear made a unconscious decision on one of his runs. This decision would then cut him back by hours and lead to his failure in SAS. He was upset and depressed, but he didn't not let that stop him. Time flew by and bear was back on his feet. He was determined to make SAS selection a second time. So with him and his lifelong companion mick, they attempted SAS one more time and in this time passing the selection. He was overjoyed and gave the praise to God for helping him get there. Bear would then go on to train with the best soldiers on the planet. Doing Laborite activities but fun also. One account he recalls attempting to capture a victim from being kidnapped. He explained his tedious night waiting for his partner to come help him on one of his trials. Everything was going good for bear and he loved every minute of being part of the most exclusive army In Britain. After long weeks of training in Africa, bear decided to relax and his way of relaxing was totally different than many others. He decided that he wanted to freefall from the sky at 16,000ft. On this day bear unfortunetly could nother his chute to cope with him and eventually bear ended up on the desert floor with a broken back, inches from losing his mobility. Bear spent motnhs rehabilitating. This would then lead up to his determination to climb Mount Everest, a childhood dream of his.A childhood reality soon became a dream as bear was given the sponsorship he longed hoped for. No after no made his dream seem a little distant, but that did not stop Bear. He pursued Everest as long as he could breathe. He teamed up with Neil Laughton and began there six week expedition to get used to the thin air. This would then guarantee and start the process of climbing Everest on there 6 month trek. They began the journey off fast and on good pace but as each hour past, Everest delivered numourous blowss that would prolong the tedious journey of climbing Everest. Several times they escaped danger and on one occasion. Bear looked death in it's eyes for the second time and prevailed again. He slipped on fractured ice and nearly lost his life on a drop hundreds of feet down. Bear recalled his life flashing before his eyes and layed their absent to his surrounding. He began thinking of family, friends, and Shara, bears girlfriend, he thought he would never get to see them again. By God he was rescued and brought back to assurance. He even encountered a sickness at camp three that almost let his journey plumiting 20,000 feet down. Bear as always did not let this stop him and he prevailed over the sickness. He reached the summit of Mount Everest on May 26, 1998 . This led to pure happiness and a new beginning to Bears life. He spent many days giving lectures of his life and speeches of Everest which was his pure income for awhile. He then featured in the hit show man vs. wild where bear now makes a living off of surviving in tight situations, he is also the chief scout for millions of young scouts. Bear told his life through this book and k would reccomend it to everyone with a passion for thrill.
review 2: This book was supposed to be his life story but instead focused on two points and not much of anything else. 1 his time in the special forces, 2. His trip up Everest. Unfortunately the whole experience of doing television was left out. So on that note,I was disappointed that an autobiography was so up inclusive. Then I saw bear has come out with multiple books before and since and realized that spreading out the story was likely part of the plan. A good read, very motivational and adventurous. An entertaining book and overall worth the money. less
