review 1: Wow, that was bad.I mean, I didn't expect it to be terribly good, but it was worse than I thought it would be.Really, it was awful.None of the characters resemble even slightly the characters from Stoker's book. I mean, I get there are going to be differences because it's set in modern times, but when Lucy Westerna sleeps with everything with a pulse and Jonathan Harker cheats on Mina Murray, well, frankly, it's delved into the realm of not even slightly believable.So. Yeah. That sucked.
review 2: Written by Bekka Black, iDrakula is a fiction book targeted towards the teen audience. I read this 150 page novel electronically on Follet Shelf, and as my first e-book I found the layout and illustrations to be interesting and helpful with the fast paced nature of th
... moree story. Through the use of illustrations of text messages, emails and search results, iDrakula chronicles the story of a group of university aged friends that experience bizarre events after one of them is hospitalized after an episode of psychosis in which he bit a young boy. In hopes of helping his hospitalized friend carry out a job assignment, Jonathan goes to Romania to make business arrangements with a count. During Jonathan's stay in Romania he is locked inside of the count's mansion and suffers an animal bite that causes him to fall ill. Jonathan is eventually rescued by his girlfriend Mina and taken back to New York where he is diagnosed with a rare form of anemia. In a scramble to find answers to Jonathan's illness Mina soon discovers that the Romanian count actually a vampire. Because I have not read Bram Stoker's Dracula I cannot compare this authors take on the story to the original. As whole I thought this novel was just okay. I liked the unique layout of the story through the use of text messages and I found the overall plot to be intriguing. I found that the naturally fast paced nature of this novel was heightened by its electronic form. While reading this e-book I found myself easily distracted and less absorbed in the story's events. Some things I disliked about this book were its lack of character development and sudden conclusion. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy mysteries and horror stories. less
