review 1: Reading this book reminded me of something a professor on film told us about some of the scenes in Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. He said some sequences were in the film simply because they were beautiful (the satellite floating in space) -- not because they had to fulfill some specific purpose in the story. Somewhere along the way, I may have lost the plot of this book. But that became secondary because there were some really beautiful moments in here -- thoughts and ideas which made me smile, existential and philosophical elements I agreed with. For that reason alone I'd recommend this book. But if you're one who needs a narrative with a clearly defined structure and ending, this might not be for you.

... moress how I felt while reading this book. I read it while I was sick, and the line, "one of the benefits of illness: giving people time to catch up with themselves, to arrive at where they are in life's fast-moving story" really struck me; reminding me that life is not to be rushed through. Our journey to arcadia (be it a physical, mental, or spiritual one), is a one that needs to be enjoyed. When on the shore of a lake or the foot of a mountain there is a certain magical quality that I can never quite communicate. This book is as close as it gets. less

I would recommend this book for the poetry in the prose, and some snippets that hit you hard.

This is creepy and sort of surreal and I'm not quite sure what to make of it
