review 1: About a somewhat tiresome guy who pines for more than a decade over the girlfriend who left him for his childhood hero (an actor famous for his action roles) and what happens to their relationship when tragedy strikes her marriage. Everyone involved is fairly unlikeable, there's an uncomfortable mix of name-dropping actual celebrities but making up fake celebrities if they're actually germane to the plot, and the main character's life bears some similarities to the author's life, which is almost never a good idea. Not a horrible book, but not that good either.
review 2: I won this book through Goodreads and was looking forward to reading it. The blurb on the cover seemed like a bait and switch. I found the love story to be sweet enough and I liked that Max matu... morered and figured things out by the end of the novel. In all fairness I have very little interest in celebrities, so this book just wasn't my cup of tea. Most of the book was filled with name dropping with no substance, which I found tedious. less
