review 1: Lincoln's Last Days, was overall a good book if you want to learn about the details that went into the assassination of Lincoln and the plot Booth created to kill Lincoln. I would recommend this book to you if you are fascinated with the Civil War or with presidents. Also, Bill O'Reilly is a great author. He touches every little fact and detail of the assassination and the Civil War ending. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved how the author painted a perfect picture in my mind, of what was actually happening in the story. Like when Booth was shot in the back and was paralyzed because the bullet pierced through his spinal cord. In my World History class, we had previously learned about the Lincoln assassination and the Civil War. This book helped me understand the top... moreic much better. Plus, it explained to me why Booth wanted to kill Lincoln. Here is a summary of this book. It was just days after the Civil War ended, that President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. His killer, John Wilkes Booth, wants to kill Lincoln, because the South lost the war and he wanted revenge. Booth is on the Confederacy's side. Slavery is the main reason for the war. Without slavery, the South will fall to pieces. Booth, wants the Union to fall too. He gathers an assassination team: George Atzerodt, Lewis Powell, John Surratt, and David Herold. Booth killed Lincoln in a theater just several days after the Civil War ended. After a long chase, Booth was finally caught in a barn, where he was shot in the back and was paralyzed because the bullet pierced through his spinal cord. He later died that night. All of the conspirators were convicted, except John Surratt. America is changed forever because of the Lincoln assassination.
review 2: I have always wanted to read a Bill O’Reilly book and I finally got my hands on one. This book doesn’t just give the details of the assassination itself, but the days before and after it. It informs you of the rising tension before and the epic chase after. This is truly one of the most in depth fact-ridden wonderful book ever. This would be a good read (haha) for anyone who is the least bit interested in history. I would strongly recommend this wonderful, amazing book to anyone. less
