review 1: This book was a really good, refreshing read. I felt like I was right there with Prince Llyskel, and the character was so well written, you felt as weak, and powerless as he did, then you rejoiced that all with this prince is not as it seems. The lovely thing about this book is that you think one thing is gonna happen, and then something quite different goes down. This is a book worth reading, an inventive story of love and redemption that will make you believe in the power of the underdog! Thanks Blaine, for making this little story a real pleasure to enjoy!
review 2: What a fab quirky little book this was.Perhaps some would class it as fantasy but the way that Llyskel narrates it in his own sweet voice was for me reminiscent of a " Once Upon A Time " fairy-s
... moretory about magical kingdoms, wicked Queens and Princes and ... well princes, because of course this is m/m and in this world there is no homophobia, people fall in love with who they want and same sex love is the norm.. They also court each other using the language of flowers and they ask permission to court their intended from the parent. Its soooo sweet! I really thought that was a lovely touch. But......what you think is something quite quaint sort of surprises you with touches of kink and some hot smexy moments that you wouldn't really expect. All whilst still maintaining the charm of a sweet fairystory. Its different and personally I like to read things that don't follow the usual formulas. Llyskel the fifth son of the king is one of those characters who you can't help but love and root for because he's the odd one out, he has no magic like the rest of the people of his world so his mother and father worry about his safety but at the same time he's no pushover and he knows exactly what and who he wants and bless him he goes out to get his man who happens to be the tall dark and sexy ..Captain Ariv of The Kings Guard and his long time fantasy and crush. There's a lot more to Llyskel than meets the eye and when the two of them get together we learn that he isn't as innocent as he seems! Then later on in the story when things go a bit pear shaped he surprises everyone with his fortitude. Endearing, different and very enjoyable. Thank you Blaine. I'm keeping! less
