review 1: It's an ok book. After reading all the reviews and especially from one of my favorite novelist, Vince Flynn, I was very excited to read this book. Also knowing the author was an ex-FBI agent was very enticing. But really it was a very short read and there wasn't anything special about the book. The proselytizing didn't necessarily bother me, but it really didn't add to the story.Now, if you want a quick book to read on the airplane to Europe and you're not in the mood to think too much,then this might be your book... but I really can't say I can recommend it.
review 2: I have mixed feelings about this book. I debated between 2 and 3 stars, and opted for 3. I decided to simply enjoy it for what it was: an FBI/Crime Novel with a Christian emphasis. It's not a gen... morere I would normally pick up, and I didn't quite realize what it was when I started reading it. It was a fast read, kept my interest, and even taught me a few things I didn't know. I liked the inside information from a real FBI agent. I liked the plot line. It was hard to get into initially, but once we moved from the setup to the actual story, it stayed interesting. The faith sub-plot, while something I can appreciate as a believer myself, did feel forced. But I think that's almost always the case when an author has more than one motive for writing a book. The same could be said for any work of fiction that adds a subplot with an ulterior motive, be it religious, political, or simply controversial. Overall, an easy, pleasant read. And so, I liked it enough to push just slightly from 2 stars to 3. less
