A Jim Richards Murder Mystery
review 1: Wonderful first novel in a series. This novel sets up a series of Jim Richards novels. It is witty, insightful and clever in its' use of comon sense and deduction. It can entice you to keep reading with sufficient plot twists. The main character, Jim Richards, is an affable, well intentioned man who has been dealing with a set of new realities in his life and makes the best of them. This book makes for excellent light reading.
review 2: I'll start with the good. The writing style is very "homey." I mean, makes you feel a part of the story, or easy to relate to the situation. ... moreontrived, although there were a few really convenient parts, it is a mystery, and that happens. The author needs to work on grammar (don't we all). Although I find it funny to read things like "it peaked his interest" instead of, "it piqued his interest" or "he sicked him on him" instead of "he sicced him on him" it is distracting and breaks you away from the story. (Okay, technically "sick" is now acceptable, but it just reads funny).Although it started out with a nice sense of humor, as the book progressed it all seemed to shift to more and more sexual in nature--like he ran out of funny lines so resorted to the oh-so-original sex jokes. And the amount of sex suddenly seemed to override the storyline. less
