review 1: I am disappointed. First I was annoyed at Ben because he couldn’t get his head out of his ass and tell Travis that he wanted him to stay. Then I thought it was very unrealistic that Travis was suddenly okay with being gay after a lifetime of being with women. Last, I thought the book was very rushed. Brad Boney could have slowed it down a little and explain some of the emotions a little more. I had high expectations for this one and I was disappointed.
review 2: Ben has a perfect, glamorous life. He's a top lawyer in NY, has a good looking boyfriend and rich friends. All is good, until he receives a call that will forever change his life. The death of his parents force him to return to Austin and face his old life, the one he walked away from many years ago.
... moreNow Ben has to decide if stay and take care of his little brothers or walk away once again. Deciding to stay proves to be a tough challenge, and Ben struggles in his new role of guardian and parent. To complicate things there’s Travis, a straight mechanic who lives across the street. The nothingness of Ben was an entertaining read, if a little shallow (I felt like the death of the parents was treated with superficiality), but I enjoyed watching Ben growing through the difficulties and gradually becoming a better brother, person and, finally, lover.[3.5 stars] less
