review 1: It's hard to know where they'll be going with this next . . . I'm not a spoiler, so I'm not going to tell you what happened . . . read the description for a sense of the story. Brian and Kevin weave some intricate plots and they sure threw in a few big twists . . . sometimes, I worry they get so complicated there's no way to easily resolve all the story-lines in a satisfying manner.Nonetheless, they have my attention and I'll read the next one, and the next one, etc., until they decide to end the series!
review 2: Unlike the Dune Universe by the same authors. there are aliens in this tale. Our hero is a wronged rebel general who has been cast off by the powers-that-be to a planet with a forbidding environment where he not only survives but prospers. This reade... morer is very much enjoying the journey as it continues in this second book. The aliens have a culture, science and a history revealed as the tale unfolds, foreshadowing great promise or great disaster. Mysteries abound; I look forward to the reveal. less
