review 1: Not exactly your sophisticated technical writing how-to book, but it's a good place to start without being overwhelmed if you want to start out with writing. I especially liked the writing exercises featured in the book; it definitely enables you to start writing interesting material and get started with creative writing, especially if you haven't tried it before. A fun read for me, and it could definitely work for writers of all ages!
review 2: I was really surprised when I saw how little people had rated and read this book. Personally, I find Juicy Writing is a must read for all aspiring writers just because of the little gems of knowledge (and fabulous quotes) you can find hidden between the pages. I am not a fan of Brigid Lowry, but she really outdid hersel... moref this time!!!Firstly, there are lots of great ideas for poems and lots of creative ideas for stories. I found my writing (and, ultimately, reviews, improved after reading (and rereading and rereading) it. The ideas are, quite, limitless and even after having this book for more than two years, the ideas have not run out.I also find some pearls of wisdom when I need it most. Like this awesome quote from Samuel Johnson - "A man who uses a great many words to express his meaning is like a bad marksman who, instead of aiming a single stone at an object, takes up a handful and throws at it in hopes he may hit." Hey - who can deny the logic??This is a book for all ages, delighting children with the easy to follow dialogue and advice and reminding parents that getting creative is a part of life (go on - satisfy you're inner child!).
