review 1: I received this book for free from the author and Goodreads First Reads. This does not influence my review.I liked this book. I am not sure but I think I may have gotten the pre publishing book. I am curious if once its published there will be pictures. I hope there are. I love Halloween and I love books so this is kind of a perfect combination. My children are not at an age yet for reading so I read this to my little one out loud. I love the spooky witch, I wish I lived in a town like Great Sweet Bliss where Emma and Patrick could go out Trick or Treating and know everyone and feel safe and secure (aside from the Panther and other creepy animals that prowl on Halloween) I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to when Emma is able to read this on her... more own.
review 2: ***I won this through a Goodreads Giveaway***The plot line was cute, but the writing was very confusing. It read too much like an old Batman show with all the "Bam! Boom! Kazaam!" words thrown onto every page. The first half of the book jumped around so much & it was mostly quotes with very little narration. It was hard to follow who was saying what. But once the kids meet the witch, the author's writing style seemed to change completely. Suddenly, there was more narration & the quotes were easier to follow, but there was still too many Batman-style words.I hate to give it 2 stars because it really was a cute plot line. It just needs some improvement. less
