review 1: This is the first book I have read by Brunonia Barry, and I will look for more. This story is about Zee Finch, her life, her career just starting, and her engagement . Things seem to be going along nicely, but then everything is in an upheaval. She needs to find a new map for her life, and this author weaves a story and characters that I couldn't put down. A visit home finds her father much worse in his Parkinson's disease, and this spurs the changes she undertakes in her life.
review 2: My biggest issue with this book is the redudancy. There is a lot of movement from the present to the past, and throughout the book you hear multiple plot points told over and over again. I also didn't appreciate the completely unnecessary references to characters from Barry
... more's other book, "The Lace Reader." Sorry, I know this is a harsh review . . . but I had some pretty high expectations (I loved her first book) and was left feeling dissapointed. less
