review 1: I have two minds on this one. As a parent I'm fine with the light humor and the fact that the characters don't know how to handle the issue. Finding dead animals happens and really- what are we to do? However, as a children's librarian I'm afraid to put this on the regular picture book shelves. I feel certain I'll find some mom upset because it portrays death in a manor she is uncomfortable with. If I put it on the special topics shelf someone looking for a serious treatment of death might feel slighted. I'm not sure what to do with this book!
review 2: A dog and rat come across a flattened rabbit in the road. Dog is really puzzled about the best way to handle the situation but, in the end, they decide to gently attach rabbit to a kite and fly him in the air. I
... moret is a bit silly that after all that thinking, they decide to give rabbit flight which is probably something Rabbit never desired. The best way to read this book is to disassociate it with grieving and instead find humor in the ludacris solution that dog and rat conjure up. This morbidly humorous book has its target audience and most of them live in Europe. less

No stars. This was a deeply disturbing picture book which involved desecration of a corpse.

A picture book that made me laugh right out loud. A lot.

Wry whimsy for the younger set. Dark humor. I loved it.
