review 1: Trouble in Store was a fairly quick read but a little on the heavy side. I liked Love In Disguise much better. Both characters in this book are stubborn. And they don't even seem to have an attraction to each other at first. I liked that she was determined to make a way for herself but she didn't give much thought to how it was going to affect his life and the life of his son. I didn't like that she came across as kind of cold to Levi at first either. But I guess that was expected after what had just happened with her former charges. The mystery of the notes and the little stuff that kept happening was enough to keep me guessing up to the end.
review 2: This was my first read from Carol Cox so I did not know what to expect. It was a solid read, it kept m
... morey interest, and I liked the characters, for the most part. I liked Melanie's strength, she moved to Arizona on her own, she stays in town to help with the mercantile even though she's clearly unwanted, and in the end, she saves herself from the villain. The romance between Melanie and Caleb picked up in the second half of the book but I would have liked it to have been played up some more (just my own preference). To me, this felt like more of a mystery with a side of romance rather than the other way around. I didn't figure out who the villain was for awhile so the mystery kept me reading. In terms of spiritual content, both Melanie and Caleb were believers and sought God's help when events started conspiring against them and their business. There were some moments of humor and the author described the area well, especially the Native American cliff ruins. Overall, it was a good read and I have her book, Love in Disguise, in my TBR pile already. less
