review 1: This was an interesting read after reading Code Name Verity since it too is about a female ATA pilot during WWII. But it's a totally different book. It's really a romance and the author did a good job making the characters of their time. Which made her male protagonist a little hard to root for because I found him so infuriatingly sexist. But I figured he'd come around by the end, which would help redeem him.
review 2: I feel like I never properly connect to Carrie Lofty books. They are very well written with real feeling characters with believable conflicts who come together in interesting ways but I can't get past the distance. ... morennect but I couldn't sympathize with them and wanted to skip to the end. Still Lofty is a wonderful writer and all the pieces are there even if it didn't work exactly for me. less
