review 1: I love art, historical fiction, and heist stories, so upon starting this book I was disappointed when the prologue seemed to be setting up a tired old trope. (an old man is telling is story to a reporter) But read on, because there are some twists and turns ahead. Even if it is a little predictable, and it might end a bit conveniently, it is an enjoyable read...especially if you are in the mood to visit Paris in 1915.
review 2: This was recommended to me by a library patron. I liked it enough. I do like conjecture stories -- where very little is known about an actual historical event, and the author creates a wild story about what really happened. This one is about the theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911, which really happened. They even know two
... moreof the men involved, but that's where the real story ends and the author picks up the narrative. He fills it with a pickpocket con-woman, a greedy railroad baron, a former waif from the streets of Paris, and a rather famous painter who is certainly not Leonardo da Vinci. It was very clever. less

Empecé a leerlo con reservas, pero luego me ha ido enganchando la historia. Me ha gustado bastante.

Not great literature, but a fast, fun read for lovers of Paris and art.

Entertaining, a bit slow in places, but a good, light read.
