review 1: Daniella the cupcake maker is opening a business in Vamptown. Except she doesn't know it's Vamptown, and for some reason, the vampires' mind compelling powers don't work on her. Nick St. George doesn't want the trouble, but he can't resist her sweet and fiery personality. Along with her other delights! It's a fun and fast read. I wasn't wowed by the plot or characters, but it was amusing. Lots of silly banter and cupcake references.I really want a cupcake now. review 2: There was a good base story here, but it was written so that I felt like I was reading the 1st attempt by a middle school girl to write a novel. The heroine would take exception to the oddest things and then talk herself out of it being a problem within a couple of paragraphs and then be freakin... moreg out about it a few pages later. The vampires used the term "vamp" to describe everything, they live in Vamptown and their computer/security center is called the Vampcave and anywhere else the author could slip in the word she did. Conversations were generally overly enthusiastic and didn't flow naturally. It didn't feel like any of the characters had any depth to them. All that aside, I did like the base story and I will be reading the second book. less
