review 1: 4.5 Locked in stars from me!Arghhh what have I just read! Cat Porter just put me through the wringer with this me, for many reasons. As far as biker books go this definitely hits the right spot. Nothing is out of character for a great biker read. The One Eyed Jacks are shady, dirty, unlawful and have a whore for every day of the week. There are strong female's galore in Lock and Key some that had me questioning motives and some that had me absolutely not liking because of what they put others through. Yes shoot me, I did not like Ruby. But for a debut novel, crikey this oozed drama, feuds, squirmy times and ahhhhh times. I did even shed a tear at one point, and you won't believe when! That's how good this bones of this story is and it carried me along with it from sta... morert to finish.I hand on heart wanted to go lower with my stars, as I got whiplash a little with the writing sometimes. Some of the way things were written had me double-taking a fair bit and that's frustrating. So in some areas it didn't flow as well as it should. And in all truth it's a little on the padded out side, taking 50 words sometimes when 25 would have sufficed. And some areas didn't need to be there at all and it wouldn't have affected the story any differently, well actually yes it would, it would have probably been punchier and crispier and therefore better. Nonetheless the crux of the story and the visualisation was ALL there, I just had to get through the wordy parts. You could tell Cat was 100% invested in her characters, they were completely real to her as they were to me reading them and that's the connection a reader wants. For a biker read, with men that treat the club woman as just objects to use and discard, the law of the cutt that they wear on their backs and the fierce loyalty that only comes with an MC this book will sate all the MC loving readers out there. It's definitely worth your time and money indeed.I will look out for more from the pen of Cat Porter, she has definitely caught my attention with this one. review 2: If you're tired of the same old motorcycle novel, then I suggest you check out this latest novel. With tension from the first page to the last. It's so emotionally gripping that you, as a reader, literally are drug, kicking and screaming into their twisted world.Grace had her world ripped apart and she's been on the run ever since. But, a situation that needs her attention beckons her home, a place she hasn't stepped foot on in 16 years. It seems that life likes to kick her when she's down. Somehow, she finds solace in the one place she thought she'd never see again; a place where she's simply known as "Little Sister".Miller has seen his fair share of blood with every tour of duty he took. But, during one life handed its own deadly blow. He had everything under lock and key until one woman threatened the very fabric of his being.Cat is an absolute genius. She completely blindsided us with the perfection that is known as Miller. By perfection I mean blazing inferno of deliciously lady bit tingling male testosterone! While there are plenty of steamy delicious moments, there's also a greater undertone of sensitivity. With every word Cat spins a Web around us, refusing to surrender. I'm falling hard for Grace's kick ass, I need no one, character. Those are usually the most broken, the ones that need help to heal. Then there is the intensity of Miller. His character is so unique and robust that he immediately demands you fully pay attention to the story.Even the broken this of Butler demands attention. I hurt severely for each of these characters and the problems they are faced with. The one thing that brings me solace is knowing each of them will always have a family, a place to call home too.Cat had me teary-eyed on more than one occasion; this is one of the most delicately...intense books I've ever read. These characters are hard asses but softies at heart. Lock and Key is filled with lust, passion, hot males, delicious plot twists that will have you hurting and guessing with each page. less
