review 1: I rate this book right up there with the best new books I've read this year. The story is written from a very different perspective than most WWII fiction - the perspective of the Aryan daughter of a eugenics scientist, who has been brought up to believe that she is better than other people. This original take on a WWII story creates an intriguing insight into an often untold story as we go on a journey with Rachel as she learns the errors of what she has previously been brought up to think. Heart wrenching, well-written and entirely captivating. Definitely well worth the read.
review 2: When in Germany last year, we learned first hand how many of the citizens did not support Hitler and paid dearly for it. This book delved into that dark side of the Reich as it
... more affected their own citizens--women and children who were used for experiments and affected by eugenics. Sometimes it was a disturbing read, but always it was interesting. Well researched topic one doesn't normally find in Christian historical fiction. I won't give a summary, as others already have and I don't want in any way to spoil the book. Just read it, but be prepared. less
