review 1: * ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW * Left to Chance by C.D. Taylor is the second book in the 'The Chances Are' series. This book is about Eliza and Gabe who we met in book one of the series. Eliza is Jake's secretary and Gabe is his best friend. She is a sweet yet, fiery southern girl. He is a rich, player who has a dark side when it comes to being intimate. When Eliza gets drunk at Jake's wedding, she cannot hide her attraction to bad boy Gabe. The next day both of their lives are flipped upside down and they have no choice but to be together for at least one month. While this book is a love story, it is slightly darker than the first book. Gabe has a dark side and an unkind family. Eliza hates him as much as she wants him. He is everything she is not, rich, c... moreonfidant, and very experienced."Oh you want to discuss people pushing people away? Ha! Trust me you have earned your merit badge in that activity, rich boy...” Eliza is confused she knows how sweet, caring and wonderful Gabe can be. She can see herself falling for him. Just as quickly, he is cruel and she hates him all over again. He does things to her physically that no one ever has."Wow that was quite an apology. Maybe you need to get on your knees to convince me of your sincerity." Gabe is a dominant man. No one says no to him. Except Eliza, he cannot understand why she keeps sticking around after he continues to hurt her. He cannot let her go. He has never wanted someone like he wants her. He knows he is in deep and has no idea what to do about it.I gladly gave this book 5 stars. I love Gabe's dominance, and I love that Eliza is a woman who does not take his crap! CD Taylor really has created great characters in this series. Each character is different and you feel like you know each one. I enjoyed that the characters in book one were around in this book as well. Great series and I look forward to the next.Written by Stephanie for Summer’s book Blog
review 2: I enjoyed this book, I felt it was more of how some relationships are love/hate. (sad but I do know people who start out with love/hate relationships, most don't work but a few do) I did feel it was rushed a little. I believe they both had feeling for the other but both didn't even want to admit it to themselves much less anyone else. I have never been so drunk that I don't remember but it could happen.I don't know why Gabe agreed to run of and get married when she was so drunk she wouldn't remember. Maybe he really wanted to due to unknown love. It really never tells you this. For me it was worth the read....off to read number 3. less
