review 1: I started this book, got about 2/3 of the way, had to give up on it. Not much of a plot, it just seemed 100% adult scenes. Basically a museum employee find the diary of a well known and dead person who greatly affected the history of the town, and it is a diary of when she was a courtesan...very different life from the matronly image everyone has. And so she decides to let the diary transform her so she can get what/who she wants. I love me a good romance novel, but this one lacked a plot. I am also a huge Celeste Bradley fan, so I will blame the other author for this failure. ;-)
review 2: I LOVED this book!!! I cried at the ending and hugged my Nook. It's been a long time since a romance story has touched my heart like this. Well, actually there are TWO... more stories being told and I loved both of them. This book is erotic without being pornographic and at the heart of it is love and an empowerment. The writing is well-done and enjoyable. I recommend this if you are in the mood for BOTH contemporary and historical romances. Beware- the love scenes are not for the faint-hearted. less
