review 1: This is a coming-of-age book with a great twist: the father (who's the narrator) is the one who truly comes of age. Perhaps my experiences as a non-custodial father of two boys (now men) made the book especially appealing but I'd recommend to all parents of boy or girl who's in high school. Heck, I'd even recommend it to any reader age 16 and above just for the humor and sheer humanity of the characters.
review 2: This was one of the first books I downloaded off "Kindle Free books" and finally got around to reading last weekend. I loved it! Great characters, interesting plot devices, and satisfying ending. If you're looking for romance and hot scenes, don't download it. If you're looking for a good story about 3 generations of men (grandson, father, grandf... moreather) coming together for the first time on one day, I'd recommend this book. I'd even pay money for it! less
