The Paper Magician Trilogy
review 1: I'm with the many who had high hopes for this book, but it left me disappointed. The heroine was supposed to be strong, and there is hope for her, but ugh, she's so damn annoying. I didn't realize this was set in the 1900's until halfway through the book because by the language and the lack of detail, I assumed it was ambiguous or modern. The book went incredibly fast and I read it in a few days, but sadly, I was wanting more. More details about Ceony, more details about the other magicians, just...more. I will read the rest of the books, but I am sad that this book had so much potential, and it was treated like a cookie-cutter garbage novel.
review 2: Ceony doesn't want to become a paper magician, but this is the life that has been chosen for her. She mee
... morets her magician tutor and bonds to paper for life, learns a couple of origami magic folds and voila! She's ready to take on some badass magician of the flesh... Wait, what? Yeah and not only that, suddenly she is in love with her professor, who by the way is 12 years older than her and just divorced that flesh lady. Sooo, idk. The premise had promise and was an entertaining read but I don't see myself running to the nearest bookstore to get the second one. I was given a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. less

Charming! World building was really great, a unique take on a magic system.

Meh. Inventive but not much more than YA tropes thrown together.
