review 1: I enjoyed TSKD merely due to the fact Ms. Onuzo is such a young published author by an esteemed publishing house . I look forward to her future writings to see if she is truly gifted or a one hit wonder from Nigeria. I was expecting more from this book and author, instead I was left deflated. I appreciated the exotic location of Nigeria and snippets of its culture but the story line was nothing extraordinary and way too predictable in my opinion. I should have entered this book with zero expectations without putting pressure on my expectation of Ms. Onzuno's papyrus vision. Translation could be partly to blame which is why I feel I need to read further writings from Ms. Onuzo before I give a firm opinion on her likeability and talent. TSKD was not a time waster and I wi... morell be reading future novels by Ms. Onuzo. I do believe she has a bright future but uncertain if she will be a favorite author worth revisiting in my personal book world.
review 2: 2,5*Es un libro raro y original. Original por la ambientación y por la historia en sí. Y raro porque una vez acabado no sé si me ha gustado o no. Me esperaba más una historia de amor y de esto apenas hay y lo que hay lo vi poco creíble. El giro que tiene la novela casi al final no me gustó, lo vi raro y creo que no le pegaba por como había empezado. Por no hablar del final, que lo vi precipitado, sin sentido y otra vez la palabra: raro. Es que no tiene nada que ver el como acaba la novela a como es en las primeras páginas. Es original, pero no me ha convencido del todo. less
