review 1: I am not normally a fan of "Christian fiction" but my mother taught me to bake bread and was drawn to this by the thought of a story of an artisan bread-baker. I enjoy making my own bread and could really relate to Liesl's passion for it. I also enjoyed the bits of bread history. I do not relate at all to Liesl's religous journey but it is honest to the character and I can accept it. The story is written well and is readable so I would try this author again if the subject was of interest to me as is the bread.
review 2: I'm so excited to be a part of the blog tour for Stones for Bread, I really enjoyed reading the book. Its different than the standard fiction novel, although it has twists and turns showing Liesl's ups and downs. It delicately weaves the hi... morestory of bread-making along with recipes, tips and techniques. Some references are subtle and some not so much. Liesls passion for her craft sings off the pages and even though the book was slow to start and on occasionally needed me to push through to keep reading, the story would pick up again as I was about to give up and I would find myself sucked right back into the tale less
