review 1: I was torn between a 3-star and a 4-star after reading this book. It was beautifully written, although perhaps a little slow going depending on your pace preference. This book had so much potential! The story was gorgeous and felt real - until it felt like only half of the good stuff. So much was left out that I couldn't help my feelings of frustration at the end when the characters I really wanted to know more about were summed up in a few short paragraphs. A great story, worth reading...just left me wanting too much more to give it a higher rating.
review 2: I admit it, the only reason I read this book was because I won it during a reading program. It is really beautifully written, with vivid descriptions, and it talks a lot about marine life and nature... more. However, for personal reasons, I really couldn't stand the main character's husband, and I had a lot of trouble getting past that to finish the book. I was going to give it three stars, but then I got to the end. I LOVED the way she ended the book! And I'll leave it at that.... less
