review 1: Where do I start? Another reviewer pointed out the editing issues. There were several. When Wenger said that Trixie put on the navy blue Philadelphia Eagles sweatshirt and sweatpants. When she mentioned Laura couldn't have a baby like the readers should know and then later having ACB telling Trixie that she was in a horrible car accident and that's why. When she has Carla say the name of the man killed in cottage 8, no one else knows his name, yet Carla does and she and Ty sort of dismiss it.Where Ty lets Trixie go to the cottage alone to read the typewriter ribbon and find the diary and let herself be cornered and almost killed by Carla. I read the 1st in this series and didn't like it. I gave the second a chance because sometimes, these series take a few books to get goi... moreng. I realize now that the publisher must really be hurting to publish crap like this.
review 2: Two things that I greatly enjoy combined into one! Give me a cozy mystery that is also about food and I’m a happy girl. 30 years ago, teenaged Claire Jacobson, disappeared from Sandy Harbor and no further trace of her was ever recovered. Claire was a beautiful 17 year old, everyone seemed to love Claire. Everyone except 1 person that is. After a body was discovered in an old cave and found to be Claire, Trixie the new owner of The Silver Bullet Diner and summer cottages finds herself remembering Claire and how kind Claire was to the young Trixie. Although only 10 at the time, Trixie has never been able to put Claire’s death out of her mind. When the murder of one or Trixie’s guests occurs in cabin 8, the same cabin that Claire and her family had stayed in, she is bound and determined to “help” the new county deputy, and her hunky neighbor Ty Briscoe solve not just the most recent death, but also the long ago murder of her friend Claire.Set on the shore of beautiful Lake Ontario in upstate New York, Sandy Harbor is the perfect setting for this story of love, hate, life and unfortunately, murder. This is the second book in Christine’s Comfort Food Mystery series, I really enjoyed the 1st book, Do or Diner, but this one took me back to my good old days, when I was a teenager and we lived, year-round, very close to a lovely little lake in northern Illinois. This book would be a great summer read, so pull up an adirondack chair, put on your flip flops and grab a glass of sweet tea and be carried away to your “happy place” of days gone by. less
