review 1: I wanted to love this story. I love Rogue in the comics but this...this was a work of original fiction with the name Rogue slapped on the main character. It literally was like the author has a story she wanted to tell and forgot this is supposed to be a story of Rogue the mutant and X-Man. One of the more disappointing stories I have read in a while. I nearly stopped at page 100 and I almost wish I had.
review 2: Really a two and a half star rating. I wanted to enjoy this, as Rogue has been my favourite superhero/villain since I was a little girl. I feel sorry for the writer because I think she did provide accurate detailing in her characterisation of a well-loved character, and the writing really isn't that bad, but the plot is super dull and veers into Mills
... moreand Boons schmaltz. Part of my problem with this book is I would have liked to see Rogue have more agency and be more capable of action - Rogue here follows the more passive, love-lorn Southern belle depiction from the Fox films. The character could be compared to a Bella Swann type, motivated mostly by her romantic interest in a boringly perfect dude. The rebel Rogue who's a force to be reckoned with is sadly absent. The names of the supporting characters were pretty hard to take seriously: Cotton, Touch, Alabaster...they sounded like brands of toilet paper. less

Marvel, this book is the verbal equivalent of the Black Widow in "Iron Man 2" only more boring.
