review 1: I couldn't put this book down! It is Christopher Valen's best book to date--I absolutely can't wait for the next one. This book is so much more than your usual mystery or police procedural. Valen writes books for thinking people who want to learn while they are being entertained by his story. He gives extensive detail in his descriptions and narrative, which enhance the story and keep the reader turning the pages. He steeps the reader in Colombian culture, and forges an emotional bond between Santana and the reader. Put this author on your MUST READ list.
review 2: Bad Weeds is my favorite Santana book. In this, the third book, the reader is taken to Columbia where architecture, geography, flowers and plants native to the area, and foods are described. I found th
... moreis element so interesting as I have never been to Columbia and it is John Santana's home as well. The plot was very exciting too. Many twists and turns. Twin sisters, lady slipper orchids, Paso Fino horses, the art of palm reading and clairvoyant dreams, plus the emergence of Natalia: all make for a really great read! less
