review 1: Everything about the white star line, the titanic relief fund, public attitude and the general aftermath was really interesting. The rest I found too much like a biography, and unfortunately I'm not a fan of biographies! The detail is so intricate as to become irrelevant - for example there are numerous accolades within the book about the quality of various violins. The family are musicians so I get the reference but the detail was vast and often too self-indulgent, but I suppose if I'd taken years researching my family I'd want to put every tiny detail in too.
review 2: I have just started reading this and it's very relevant. My grandfather was born in Dumfries and my grandmother supposedly had second sight and saw the sinking of the Titanic. This might have
... morebeen related to the fact that her own father drowned in the Bay of Biscay, 14 years before. I am about to embark on writing a story about my grandfather's death so this book is so relevant. I can't wait to continue with it. less

A book that shows the other side to the life, money and greed around the titanic. Wonderful book.
