review 1: Enjoyed this book and the differing perspective it gave the raid.Rather liked the exploration of the idea that internal politics brought down UBL rather than supercomputers and ultrasmart intelligence gathering.Given where UBL was eventually tracked down too, the "aren't we brilliant" line is a tough one to sell. The whole "WMD" issue was also enlightening and worth the price of admission.Given the highly confidential nature of the raid and the people involved there is no reason to expect we know the truth in its detail.Jerome writes a great review which pans this book on the basis other authors have written works afterwards which largely agree with one another (apart from "little things like the number of SEALs involved things like that") which perhaps misses the central p... moreoint that the truth is unknowable and probably will remain so.How accurate any of these books on the raid are, difficult to know.Did I enjoy this book?Yes.
review 2: Interesting book to read while someone I actually watched grow up was completing his Seal training. In fact, my favorite part of the book was the detailed description of the training that takes place over two years. One of the many things I learned is that teamwork is taught by "the simple technique of making roommates share the fate of individual failures." Rather vivid descriptions of the hideout in Pakistan of bin Laden and the Seal attack. The government came out looking very, very bad. Makes one wonder how there can ever be a successful military operation or war. Good description of jazz: "the music that Negroes invented to satisfy their primitive inclinations, as well as their desire to be noisy on the one hand and excite their bestial tendencies on the other." less

Great book! The back story of the rise of the Middle East terror minds is worth the read.
