review 1: 2.75 starsUnfortunately this story has its roots in another genre, and while that normally would not bother me, it didn't seem it was edited or revised very much from the original format, so some plot points will not make sense to the casual reader. Plus, the POV switches (why did the nurse need a POV?) and other head hopping was off-putting. Then, add in two dimensional characters, which really didn't need to be there to get the protagonists together and I was very disappointed. Overall, the plot was sweet and I could have liked the main characters, but those issues outweighed that. The editing issues I blame on Dreamspinner, NOT the author, and I would probably still buy a book from Ms. Sutherland in the future especially since I enjoyed the hurt/comfort aspect of this n... moreovel.
review 2: Josh and Sam are best friends in real life and on-screen lovers on a popular soap opera. Josh is straight and has a live in girlfriend, Sam is gay and has a live in boyfriend and each relationship is dying a slow death. As Sam and Josh are coming out of a coffee shop, a deranged fan shoots Sam nearly ending his life. During Sam’s recovery, Josh doesn’t leave his side and comes to the stark realization that Sam is THE most important person in his life and the person that he wants to be with more than anything in the world. Considering the fact that Josh has always been straight, there is very little angst. He knows what he wants and he sets out to make it happen. This is a very sweet, almost too sweet, GFY story about two very likable MC’s and their wonderful families and friends. There really is very little conflict in this story and it has a wonderful HEA. less
