review 1: *This book was given to me for a fair and honest review*4.5 STARSAmara sells herself to settle a debt. Colin is the love of her life that she must leave behind so that he is kept from harm. As she settles herself into her new reality, she learns that lies and secrets are everywhere and that sometimes love just isn’t enough. I was spellbound by this book. It was totally different then what I expected. In fact, I put off reading it for quite a while because I wasn’t sure it was going to be “my thing.” However, as soon as I started reading, I was completely taken with the characters, storyline, and location, absolutely everything. The author did an amazing job of weaving a tale of intrigue, love, and lust that was superb from beginning to end. As an added bonus for me... more, the heroine was strong, which is almost necessary for me to enjoy a book. I do hate those whiney girls. While there were times I questioned Amara’s thought process behind some of her decisions, she proved her strength time and again. Additionally, the sub-characters are engaging in their own ways. I’m keeping my review short and simple because you need to experience it yourself. This is a two part series with the second book coming September 30. I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery. It can be harsh at times but I found that it was appropriate to the story. I CAN NOT wait for The Sinner’s Bargain!!!!Originally posted to Books Books Books Blog
review 2: Rating: 4 Groupie Stars! I have never been much of a dark, suspense romance novel reader, but I was presently surprised by how much I liked this book! This book is about a woman named Amara, who, at age 17, made a deal she though was her only option in order to right the wrongs of her father and to save her mother, but after many years pass and the man she made the deal with has yet to collect she feels safe, until the Devil himself walks into her life and turns it upside down. Thrust into a world she never wanted to be a part of, Amara must abide by the rules set out for her or risk losing her mother. But when outside threats bring danger to the fore front of Amara’s new life, she is forced to make choices she wishes she didn’t have too. Will Amara be able to deal the consequences of the contract she made so long ago or will she have to come up with a new plan on how to fix her life without losing it all. I really did like this book, I just had trouble connecting with the characters at times and that is what killed a star for me. The inability to connect and some of her actions left me confused and wanting more at the same time. This book ends in a cliffhanger and I was grateful that I was able to go on to book two, The Sinner’s Bargain as soon as I finished book one. If you love suspense and dark romance, read this book! I will definitely be reading more from Clare!Love and Books~Chelsea less
