review 1: An entertaining read, although didn't realise the first book was supposed to feature Alec Ramsay as the main character, he barely got a look in! Fast paced, good flow and a reasonably well thought out story. Good page turner that certainly didn't lack in bad guys and a rising body count. The second book's (Kindle edition) last three chapters were riddled with spelling mistakes, something which I personally found quite annoying and distracting.
review 2: Lots and lots of bad guys!! A scale of bad guys--psycho crazy murdering child-torturing bad guys to the boss of the bad guys (the one with clean hands) and the boss guy's lackey. Bad cops, cheating cops, cops that leak info to the press. The other end of the spectrum--children, good women, good men and good cops... more. It did seem like the bad guys out-numbered the good guys. Lots of swearing. This book was well written though because I found myself understanding how the psycho guy got to where he was (but really glad he wasn't breathing by the end!!!) and rooting for the bad guys who took care of the really bad guys. The bummer is, there was no happy ending unless you count the bad guys getting what they deserved. This is no fairy tale. less
