review 1: I thought this book would be more autobiographical. It is more philosophical with quotes from sermons and letters. I wanted the more "human" side, but not necessarily "rip your heart out and bleed on the page." I know that isn't Elder Oaks. I wanted to find out more about his growing up, meeting both his wives, being a father while being a judge and a university president--that kind of thing-- rather than "law being a blunt instrument" and the difference between revelation and opinion, etc.
review 2: Dare I put the name Dallin H. Oaks and the words "easy read" together in the same sentence? Well, I just did. Nice to get a down-to-earth book about what his life lessons have been. It's pleasant to realize that he has had many of the same big questions in his ... morelife come around and it's interesting to read about his thought processes in trying to answer those big questions. In short, it's nice to see that Dallin H. Oaks is really just as human as the rest of us. A pleasant and comforting read for the soul. less
