Evergreen Book #7 is complete. Kate Taylor’s Serial Monogamy was a thoroughly engrossing read that I would recommend to just about anyone.
Sharon is a successful novelist with a handsome academic for a husband. Things seem bad when her husband leaves her for a graduate student and only get worse when Sharon is diagnosed with cancer. We get chapters from her life alternated with chapters from a writing project she’s working on.
I loved this book. It was fun to read, the kind of book where you’re on the lookout for clues the entire time. Taylor really plays around with the narration and the reader has no idea what to believe – it’s one of those books that had me questioning whether there’s even such a thing as ‘truth’ and it was great. I think I can sum up my feelings for the book with this quote from near the end
“That’s a story, miss.”
“Yes,” Nelly replied, drawing herself up and raising her chin, “but it’s a good story.”
