review 1: I won this book as a good reads first. The next right thing provides a vivid depiction of the addict's life, full of colorful characters and writing. It is a murder mystery and a behind-the-scenes look at AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) as well. Before reading this book, I knew little about AA (beyond what I've seen on TV and in movies), and I found it fascinating. The Next Right Thing makes AA an integral part of a very readable and fast paced novel.

In the end, I thought it was completely original --I want to compare it to things like The Rockford Files or Raymond Chandler, but in the end I feel like I've never read this book before. less
